Good-bye January!

Time flies...

when you're having fun!  And even when you're not.  There is so much going on all the time in our world.  Sometimes being busy is not so good when you don't even have time to breathe.  Breathe in!  Breathe out!  Time to slow down...  You figure that even the Energizer bunny has got to slow down sometime.

It's hard to believe that February is just around the corner.  Do you have a secret Valentine?  I've had some memorable Valentine's days.  I remember a love letter I got when I was in high school only to find out that my close friend also got a love letter from the very same guy.  Can you believe that he got our phone numbers mixed up and called me up to ask her out?  That is a guy for you!  Really!

Mac vs PC

Argh!!!

Right?  Are you a Mac user or a PC user?  I'm a PC user but sometimes I have to use the Mac.  Can I tell you that using a Mac makes me feel like an absolute moron a lot of the time?  It does!  I'm so used to using a PC that when I use the Mac I feel like everything is at odds and ends.  Don't ask me why but it just does.  It makes me think of the word ambidextrous.  If you can use both then you are awesome.  If you are not, then you know what I'm talking about.

Ethics

What do you stand up for?

Are you a wimp and a coward or do you stand up for what you believe in?  I have heard that you need to pick your battles but only you know what you can truly expect from yourself.  After all, when all is said and done, you have to live with yourself.  It's important that you respect yourself.

Yummy!

Thai Hot Pot

What better way to wait out the cold then eat hot soup?  I was at Noodles & Co. recently meeting a friend and had one of my favorite soups:  the Thai Hot Pot.  It's very meaty and has a lot of vegetables.  You can spice it up to your taste.  I then topped it off with a large chocolate chip cookie.  I think Noodles & Co. has the best chocolate cookies around.

Oberlin

Underground Railroad

Recently a friend of mine invited me to see a historical reenactment of an Underground Railroad happening.  The dramatization centered around the story of John Price and the city of Oberlin that did their best to save him from the slave traders.  Actors portrayed different members of this unique story and brought this historical event alive in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Ack!!!

Ever have a coughing fit?

This week has been hellish!  So much to do and not enough time and when you don't feel well...  life still goes on.  Exactly how do you get everything done that you need to get done?  This is when you realize that you are only human just like everyone else.

However time does have a way of getting away from you.  Tick...  Tock...  Tick...  Tock...

What do I see?

Hmmm...

Sometimes when you drive do you ever see the person in the car in front of you or next to you just singing and dancing away like there's no one watching?  You wonder what goes through their heads as in total abandonment they just give in to the music.  It reminds me of a day long ago at a busy intersection when this one woman just stopped in the middle of traffic and opened her car door and windows and started singing at the top of her lungs.  We just all watched her.  I wonder what made her do that that day?  Talk about bold!

Fridays

TGIF

What would we do without Fridays?  Life has been interesting lately.  I was having a conversation with a friend of mine and my thought was TMI.  Sometimes you have conversations like these.  Where what's being discussed is way TMI.  What do you do?  Change the subject?  Etc.?  It does make for interesting life stories.

Think we are going to be cold for a while.  Brrr...  We are all frozen in the Midwest!

Take care!

Life Lessons

Ask it!

I was at a lunch yesterday where they showed this video.  This is a brand new year and we make decisions every day of our lives.  What kind of decisions do you make?  Good or bad?  Why not wise?

Happy January!  I know it's cold!  Brrr...  Lucky you if you live in the warmer climes!

ProPublica

Are you a whistleblower?

Remember the movie The Insider?  It was an expose of the nicotine industry.  Because Jeffrey Wigand came forward in the interest of the public consumer he basically went through hell.  It's ironic that some companies are so good at "talking the talk" but they don't seem to want to "walk the walk."  If you want to check out a forum that makes sure that you know what you need to know then check out ProPublica.

Brrr...

Must I say it?

It is really cold out there!  So we were getting temps in the 30's until we had our most recent snowfall and now we are experiencing weather in the teens and below zero.  I am California Dreaming for sure!

Are you broke?

Not that kind of broke...

It's always surprising to me how there are people out there who want to dominate someone else so much that they keep picking on that certain someone purely out of spite.  The reason I say this is because I went and finally saw the movie Unbroken today.  A friend and I tried to watch it Christmas day and it was sold out at two theaters so...  Finally...  Unbroken is about an Olympic athlete, the late Louis Zamperini, that gets caught as a POW.  There is this one prison officer that just keeps picking and picking on him.  I have to admit that this was a powerful movie:  Very much like The Railway Man.  There is no way that I would have fallen asleep through this movie because I have to admit I fell asleep during Exodus.  My bad!

Kevin Sorbo

What's he been up to?

Remember Hercules...  I was listening to the Faith & Liberty Talk Show yesterday and Kevin Sorbo was their guest speaker.  I remember him from the TV series Hercules and also from the movie God's Not Dead which I really liked.  Kevin is currently involved with two favorite non-profits:  The Afterschool Alliance and A World Fit for Kids.  No matter if you're an actor or not an actor, you still "gotta work."  And he has definitely been keeping busy.

Happy 2015

Tea Party anyone?

I attended a Tea Party yesterday in honor of Downton Abbey's 2015 season kickoff.  We got to drink tea and sample scones, finger sandwiches, and sugar cookies while watching the last episode of 2014.  I can't wait to watch the premiere tonight.
